Benin City Residents Flock to Free Skill Acquisition Workshop

The skill acquisition program in Benin City kicked off with an impactful address by Uyi Ogbebor, the CEO of Uyi Technical. Ogbebor highlighted the importance of perseverance and dedication, urging participants to prioritize excellence and diligence in their pursuits.

“Success is built on a foundation of hard work,” Ogbebor noted while motivating the attendees to embrace opportunities for personal growth.

The free workshop featured various hands-on training sessions, including makeup artistry, hairstyling, photography, baking, paint production, Gele (traditional head tie) styling, and digital design, thanks to contributions from multiple sponsors.

The event was anchored by actress and host Linda Osifo, with comedy and support from MC Yannis and co-host Daisy Leo Asigidi.

Asigidi introduced the instructors and engaged them in discussions on their teaching methods and plans to empower learners. Some key facilitators included Rahzark, CEO of Rahzark Pro Beauty and Rahzark Cosmetics; Naomi Aisosa, CEO of Naomi Cakesndmore; Designs by JN; Agwam Kosisochukwu, creative director at Cocotreats; Jennifer, CEO of Nini Effect Studio; and Omwanghe Osagumwenro, CEO of Osagu Photography.

During the interactive sessions, Omwanghe shared his inspiring journey into photography, recounting how a visit to church sparked his interest in the craft. “While the pastor preached, my attention drifted to the church photographer, and that moment of inspiration motivated me to pursue photography as a profession,” he shared.

In a separate discussion, Designs by JN tackled common complaints about tailors not meeting clients’ expectations. “I always communicate with my clients beforehand to determine if the design they want will complement their body size. This avoids misunderstandings,” he explained.

The event emphasized the vital role of skills training in addressing unemployment and empowering individuals with tools to succeed. Participants left the program equipped with practical skills, renewed motivation, and a sense of purpose to contribute positively to the workforce and entrepreneurial sectors.

Through impactful workshops and inspiring success stories, the initiative showcased the transformative potential of skill acquisition in shaping a brighter and more self-reliant future.
