Lagos-based telecommunications leader, MainOne, celebrated its fifth anniversary by highlighting a significant milestone: over $300 million invested in expanding network infrastructure across West Africa since its inception.
During a press conference, CEO Funke Opeke emphasized the company’s commitment to bridging the digital divide despite the region’s challenges, including limited infrastructure and high costs. Opeke expressed optimism about the future of broadband in West Africa, reaffirming MainOne’s dedication to connecting the region to the global digital landscape.
Recent achievements for MainOne include receiving regulatory approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to deploy broadband infrastructure in Northern Nigeria and Lagos. Furthermore, the company recently commissioned its state-of-the-art Tier III Lekki Data Center, a crucial step in addressing the growing demand for colocation, cloud computing, and disaster recovery services in the region.
