Flutterwave’s Disha Platform to Temporarily Cease Operations

Flutterwave, the leading African payments technology company, has announced that Disha, its no-code platform designed to empower creators, will temporarily suspend operations on March 31, 2024. This decision comes as Flutterwave reassesses its strategic focus for Disha and explores new avenues to better serve the evolving needs of the creator economy.

Disha, acquired by Flutterwave in 2021, provides a suite of tools that enable creators, including content creators, influencers, artists, and designers, to easily build online portfolios, showcase their work, and seamlessly receive payments from their audience.

While Disha will temporarily cease operations, Flutterwave has assured users that their accounts and data will remain accessible. The company strongly encourages users to migrate their content and data to alternative platforms such as Mainstack, Milkshake, and Linktree before the shutdown date.

“We understand the importance of these tools for our creators,” stated Flutterwave in a recent statement. “This pause is a critical step as we re-evaluate our approach and explore new ways to empower the creative community.”

This marks the second time Disha has faced operational challenges. Prior to its acquisition by Flutterwave, the platform had previously announced a temporary shutdown due to resource constraints.

Flutterwave’s acquisition of Disha in 2021 reflected its ambition to expand its reach into the burgeoning creator economy. However, the company has acknowledged the need for a strategic reassessment to ensure Disha’s long-term success and alignment with Flutterwave’s broader vision.
