African venture capital firm, Ventures Platform, has further strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Damilola Teidi as its inaugural Head of Platform and Networks. In this crucial role, Teidi will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the firm’s comprehensive support programs for its portfolio companies.

Prior to joining the firm, she served as Director of Startup Support at Co-creation Hub, where she played a pivotal role in developing and implementing robust support systems for a diverse range of startups across the continent. Her previous experience as CEO of GoMyWay, a ride-sharing startup, provides her with valuable firsthand insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by African entrepreneurs.

Kola Aina, General Partner at Ventures Platform, expressed his enthusiasm for Teidi’s appointment, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to providing unparalleled support to its portfolio companies. “At Ventures Platform, we firmly believe in empowering our founders to achieve their full potential,” stated Aina. “Damilola’s expertise and proven track record in supporting startups will be invaluable in enabling us to deliver on this commitment.”

Teidi shared her excitement about joining the Ventures Platform team, stating, “I am eager to leverage my experience to build out innovative support programs and harness the power of our extensive network to provide catalytic value to our founders.”

Ventures Platform, founded in 2016 by Kola Aina, has established itself as a leading investor in early-stage African startups. The firm’s portfolio boasts a number of successful companies, including Piggyvest, PayHippo, and Mono. In December 2021, Ventures Platform successfully closed the first close of its $40 million fund, attracting a diverse range of investors, including both local and international LPs. This strategic approach reflects the firm’s commitment to fostering local ownership and empowering the African tech ecosystem.
