UK Government Invests $2.5 Million to Boost Science and Innovation in Ghana and Nigeria

The UK government, through its West Africa Research and Innovation Hub, is investing up to £1.9 million ($2.5 million) to strengthen science, technology, and innovation ecosystems in Ghana and Nigeria. This initiative, named “Sankore” after a renowned West African center of learning, aims to foster collaboration between the UK and these two nations, accelerating the commercialization of innovative solutions and improving government service delivery.

Sankore, implemented under the Africa Technology and Innovation Partnerships (ATIP) program, will work closely with government ministries in both countries to identify and support high-impact projects. The initiative encourages applications from organizations with a deep understanding of the local context and a strong commitment to driving innovation.

This significant investment underscores the UK government’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with African nations in science and technology. By supporting innovation and empowering local communities, this initiative aims to contribute to economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development in both Ghana and Nigeria.
