Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc, a leading player in the aviation ground handling sector, has announced the appointment of Adenike Aboderin as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The appointment, effective February 1, 2024, marks a new chapter for the company as Aboderin takes over from Basil Agboarumi, whose tenure has concluded.

Aboderin, a distinguished finance professional, brings over 20 years of executive leadership experience to her new role. She has a diverse background that spans both the public and private sectors, with expertise in strategic policy formulation, financial advisory, and management. Her professional journey includes notable contributions to the oil and gas, infrastructure, marine, and transportation sectors, equipping her with a broad skill set ideal for advancing SAHCO’s mission.

In her new position, Aboderin will leverage her wealth of experience to continue SAHCO’s growth trajectory. The company, which provides a wide range of aviation ground services—including passenger, ramp, cargo handling, and warehousing—seeks to strengthen its position in the highly competitive aviation services sector.

Before joining SAHCO, Aboderin was the Director of Finance and Accounts at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), where she oversaw critical financial operations, including credit control, budget management, and the finance directorate. She also served as the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, focusing on trade and investment. In this role, Aboderin championed various economic development initiatives for the state and managed the Economic Planning Department between 2011 and 2014.

Her career also includes significant roles at financial institutions such as Skye Bank (now Polaris Bank) and Citibank Nigeria, where she honed her expertise in banking and financial management.

Aboderin’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master’s in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos. Additionally, she is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB) and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (FCNA). She has also completed postgraduate programs in Global Strategic Management at Harvard Business School and an Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School. Aboderin is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development at the University of Sussex, UK.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal time for SAHCO as the company aims to further expand its reach in the aviation industry. With a track record of leadership and a strong commitment to industrialization and job creation, Aboderin is poised to drive SAHCO’s vision of excellence, operational efficiency, and continued growth.

In her new capacity, Aboderin will focus on steering SAHCO’s growth strategy and ensuring that the company delivers exceptional value to all its stakeholders while maintaining the highest standards of service excellence in the aviation ground handling sector.
