The Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN) has unveiled a new initiative, the Women Economic Empowerment for Widows, Women Entrepreneurs, and Vulnerable Women (WEE 4 3WS) program is aimed at providing resources, tools, and support for women to succeed in business. The launch event took place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall, Alausa, Ikeja.
ANWBN’s National Coordinator, Otunba Gbemisola Oduntan, emphasized the initiative’s mission to foster financial independence among women and connect them to market opportunities. “This is more than a celebration—it’s a call to action. We envision a future where women are empowered as leaders, innovators, and collaborators in shaping a more inclusive world” Oduntan stated. The program seeks to provide participants with access to business resources and financial backing. For this purpose, ANWBN has engaged banks to support women entrepreneurs with viable business ideas.
Dr. Funke Bolujoko, founder of Master Tea, joined the event via video call to share valuable advice with attendees. She urged women to embrace failure as a stepping stone to growth. “Forge alliances that uplift you, avoid shortcuts, and capitalize on every opportunity to progress” she advised. To inspire the audience, She highlighted the journey of Chief Rasak Akanni Okoya, founder of the Eleganza Group of Companies, who began his business at the age of 14 and has sustained it for over 71 years. She attributed his success to unwavering determination and ethical business practices.
The program also featured insights Mrs. Toki Mabogunje, a lawyer, who encouraged women to prioritize excellence in their business endeavors. “ANWBN has the potential to achieve great things. Let’s invest in knowledge, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship training” she said. She also shared practical advice for working mothers, offering tips on balancing business operations with family responsibilities. She encouraged women to actively promote their products at exhibitions and to remain resilient in the face of challenges.
The WEE 4 3WS program signifies a significant step toward empowering women entrepreneurs in Nigeria. By addressing barriers to financial independence and fostering a supportive ecosystem, ANWBN aims to create a brighter, more inclusive future for widows, women in business, and vulnerable women across the country.
