U.S Safety Officials Investigate United Airlines Flight Incident

The United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating an incident involving a United Airlines flight that returned to Nigeria following a sudden aircraft movement, which caused injuries to passengers and crew members.

Flight 613, a Boeing 787-8, departed Lagos, Nigeria, on January 24, en route to Washington Dulles International Airport. However, an unexpected movement prompted the aircraft to turn back to Lagos. United Airlines initially attributed the issue to a “technical problem” and clarified that it was not related to severe turbulence, according to a statement on Friday.

United Airlines reported that four passengers and two flight attendants were treated at a hospital for minor injuries following the event. However, Nigerian aviation authorities noted that as many as 38 individuals sustained injuries during the flight. The plane was carrying a total of 245 passengers and 11 crew members at the time of the incident.

United Airlines confirmed that it is collaborating with Nigerian aviation officials to determine the cause of the problem. Meanwhile, the NTSB announced that a preliminary report on the investigation would be released in approximately 30 days.
