A Year in Review: Nigerian Tech Leaders Reflect on 2023 and Share Their Christmas Wishes

From the unexpected twists and turns of the tech world to personal triumphs, 2023 has been a year of diverse experiences for Nigerian tech leaders. Following last year’s bold wishes for bitcoin’s surge and billions of dollars, figures like Blessing Abeng, Jessica Hope, Adora Nwodo, and Edidiong Asikpo shared their reflections on the past year and their Christmas desires.

Blessing Abeng, Co-founder of Ingressive For Good, described 2023 as a year of “rewarding, action-filled, and interesting” experiences, including her Forbes recognition and stepping down as Director of Communications. The FTX collapse and the Sam Altman saga were among the most shocking events of the year for her. For Christmas, Abeng yearns for an unforgettable travel experience to an unknown destination, a chance to explore new cultures and simply unwind.

Jessica Hope, Founder of Wimbart, acknowledged the challenges faced by the industry, particularly the funding drought. Despite these challenges, Wimbart has weathered the storm, and Hope expressed her wish for seven new clients to bolster the agency’s growth.

Adora Nwodo, a Software Engineer and Founder of NexaScale, described 2023 as “audacious” and full of new experiences. The Sam Altman saga also stood out as a major shock for her. Her Christmas wish? A luxurious Maybach, a symbol of her ambition and success.

Edidiong Asikpo, a Software Developer at Hashnode, described 2023 as a year of fulfilling childhood dreams, including traveling to Cappadocia and experiencing the grandeur of New York City. The collapse of FTX was a significant shock for him, given the previous year’s hype around Web3 and cryptocurrencies. Asikpo’s Christmas wish is a surprise trip to an undisclosed location.

These diverse perspectives offer a glimpse into the experiences and aspirations of some of Nigeria’s most influential tech leaders. As the year draws to a close, they reflect on their achievements, acknowledge the challenges, and look forward to new adventures and continued growth in the years to come.
