Bosun Tijani Urges Nigerian Tech Ecosystem To Grasp Global Opportunities

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has called on Nigeria’s technology ecosystem to seize the opportunities presented by international collaborations. Speaking at the Nigerian-French Technology Roundtable in Lagos, Tijani highlighted the significance of global partnerships in driving the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.

He emphasized the importance of Nigeria’s participation in the upcoming Viva Technology (VivaTech) Conference 2025 in Paris, describing it as a milestone moment for the nation. He noted that platforms like VivaTech offer a unique opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s innovation on the global stage and position its startups as leaders in the global tech landscape. Tijani stressed the need to utilize France’s strengths in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and sustainability to enhance Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem. He also revealed plans for a joint technology market aimed at fostering innovation and announced a 90-kilometre fiber-optic cable project to improve Nigeria’s internet infrastructure. “This partnership represents a major step forward in creating an environment where our tech startups can thrive, attract venture capital, and drive economic growth,” Tijani said.

The Consul General of France in Nigeria, Laurent Favier, praised Nigeria’s growing influence in the global tech space, stating that technology is a critical driver of the country’s international standing. “Events like VivaTech are essential for fostering global partnerships and expanding Nigeria’s role in the digital economy,” Favier noted.

The roundtable, hosted in collaboration with the French Embassy and Globacom, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and representatives from VivaTech to explore areas of collaboration. Discussions focused on how Nigeria’s participation in VivaTech could stimulate investments, foster innovation, and enhance the country’s global influence in technology.

The event spotlighted Nigeria’s growing role as a hub for technological advancement and innovation. VivaTech, an annual technology conference held in Paris, serves as a global platform for startups, investors, and companies to showcase the latest innovations and form strategic partnerships.
