BUA Cement has announced the appointment of Chikezie Ajaero as its new Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The company shared the update in a formal notice submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), highlighting recent resolutions from its board of directors and key developments within the organization.
As part of the notice, BUA Cement’s board approved the unaudited financial statements for the first half of 2024, covering the period ending June 30. The company also announced that its closed trading period, which began on July 1, 2024, will extend until 24 hours after the financial statements are made public.
Chikezie Ajaero brings over 25 years of experience across various financial domains, including financial reporting, treasury and risk management, management accounting, financial controls, and operational analysis.
Ajaero joined BUA Flour Mills Limited in 2005 as Finance Manager and held various leadership roles, including General Manager-Finance at 1004 Estates Limited and UAC Restaurants. He rejoined BUA in 2012 as Financial Controller for BUA Flour/Pasta Limited. In May 2015, he became General Manager-Finance at Obu Cement Company Ltd, later advancing to Finance Director of BUA Cement PLC’s Obu Plant in 2019. Before this recent promotion, Ajaero served as Acting CFO of BUA Cement starting May 2024.
Academically, Ajaero earned a distinction in Accounting from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu (1992) and holds an MBA in Management from the University of Lagos (2000). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
