ESIPO Applauds Oredo LGA for Launching Investment Facilitation Desk

The Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO), through its Ease of Doing Business Secretariat, has praised the Oredo Local Government Council for its innovative initiative in establishing an investment facilitation desk. This pioneering move, led by the Chairman of Oredo LGA, Dr. Tom Obaseki, marks a significant first for both the state and the nation.

Kelvin Uwaibi, the Managing Director of ESIPO, commended this initiative, describing it as a transformative step in enhancing investment prospects within the Oredo Local Government Area. He emphasized that the establishment of this desk will serve as a central hub for businesses, offering a streamlined process for addressing their concerns and facilitating smoother interactions between investors and the local government.

Uwaibi further noted that the initiative is expected to attract significant capital investment, fostering a dynamic and thriving business ecosystem within the region. He urged other local government areas across the state to replicate Oredo’s model, aligning with the state’s broader objective of fostering economic growth and prosperity.

In his address, Dr. Tom Obaseki highlighted the council’s commitment to improving services for Oredo’s residents and acknowledged the crucial role that investment plays in driving sustainable development. He pointed out that traditional revenue generation through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is insufficient on its own, and the focus must shift towards attracting capital investment to fuel growth.

Dr. Obaseki outlined the structure of the Oredo Business Support and Investment Facilitation Office, which consists of three key components: the Oredo Social Environmental Impact Initiative, the Oredo Investment and Development Company, and the Oredo Business Support and Investment Facilitation Office. These initiatives are designed to create a robust and sustainable framework for business growth and attract further investment into the local economy.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the Oredo Local Government Secretariat in Edo South, was attended by key stakeholders, including members of the Oredo Local Government Council, representatives from ESIPO, and various business community leaders. This collaborative effort marks a significant step forward in creating a business-friendly environment in Oredo, with the potential to set a new standard for investment facilitation across the state.
