Eterna Plc has announced the appointment of Okechukwu Ashiegbu as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Bunmi Agagu-Adu as an Executive Director. The company noted that the appointments are pending shareholder approval in accordance with its Articles of Association. Both roles became effective on July 15, 2024.
According to Eterna Plc, Okechukwu Ashiegbu brings over 18 years of professional experience across banking and the downstream oil and gas sectors. Over the past decade, he has held key leadership and managerial positions at Rainoil Limited and Eterna Plc, earning recognition for achieving strategic organizational goals.
Before his current appointment, Ashiegbu served as Eterna’s Chief Operating Officer, where he led efforts to drive the company’s strategic initiatives, revenue growth, and profitability through effective operations management. He previously managed Eterna’s Apapa Depot, where he achieved a remarkable 300% growth in product sales and dispatch volumes, positioning the depot as a leading choice in the area.
Ashiegbu also played a significant role in Rainoil Limited’s rise as a prominent player in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas sector. He held positions such as Operations Manager for Lagos, Depot Head of Sales, and National Operations Manager.
Currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Lagos Business School, Ashiegbu holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He is a member of the Business Graduates Association and has attended various industry-specific training programs, including those at the Lagos Business School.
Bunmi Agagu-Adu, with over 18 years of professional experience, has spent 16 years specializing in the oil, energy, and manufacturing sectors. She began her career at Eterna Plc in 2008 as a Corporate Affairs & Legal Officer and has since taken on several roles, including Corporate Communication Manager, Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Head of Real Estate and Non-Fuel Revenue, Head of Gas, and most recently, General Manager for Lubricants and Gas.
During her tenure as Company Secretary and General Counsel at Eterna, Agagu-Adu oversaw the corporate secretariat, contracting, regulatory compliance, and legal advisory functions for over 12 years. She has developed expertise in people management, corporate negotiations, dispute resolution, business and legal writing, and intellectual property rights.
A 2005 graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Agagu-Adu earned her Bachelor of Laws degree and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK, and holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Governance from Leeds Beckett University in the UK.
