The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Wednesday.
In an official statement, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community for successfully completing the Ramadan fast. Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the significance of the holy month in fostering self-discipline, compassion, and spiritual rejuvenation.
The minister urged Muslims across the country to uphold the values of love, generosity, and peace while supporting national unity and religious harmony. He encouraged all Nigerians to use the festive period as an opportunity to pray for the nation’s continued peace, stability, and progress.
“As we mark Eid-el-Fitr, let us embrace the teachings of Ramadan, show love and forgiveness to one another, and collectively work towards building a more united and prosperous Nigeria,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated.
He further advised citizens to celebrate the occasion responsibly and safely while extending kindness to the less privileged in line with the principles of Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak and prayed that the blessings of the season bring happiness and fulfillment to everyone.
