Ford Mart Limited, a prominent retail business in Nigeria, recently marked this year’s Children’s Day celebration by hosting a special event for children in Benin City, Edo State. The initiative is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to give back to its host community and celebrate the contributions of Nigerian children.
Mr. Clifford Ewere Williams, the Group Managing Director of Ford Mart, highlighted that the company’s family-oriented mandate was the driving force behind this generous gesture. In addition to the festivities, Ford Mart made an impactful move by offering scholarships to five students in Benin City, helping to foster educational advancement and support local families.
“This annual initiative has evolved from simply celebrating children to providing a practical platform for over 150 children to gain hands-on experience at our Benin City branch. This year, the children were given the opportunity to learn about our inventory and supply chain management, our baking process, customer service, and several other key business functions,” Mr. Williams shared.
The event, which was themed “Dignity in Labour,” aimed to expose the youth to entrepreneurial skills and career-building opportunities. Mr. Williams further emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship education, noting that many schools lack the resources to teach students essential skills like business acumen, accounting, and professional conduct. “We have created this initiative not just to celebrate Children’s Day but to provide a space for young minds to understand the fundamentals of business and discipline, nurturing future leaders of tomorrow,” he added.
Ford Mart, established in 2015 with its headquarters in Abuja, offers an all-encompassing shopping experience. It combines grocery offerings, fresh produce, bakery items, and a variety of household products, including electronics, apparel, toys, and home furnishings. The company’s core philosophy revolves around delivering an exceptional customer experience, and its logo – a smiling face – symbolizes the joy and satisfaction Ford Mart aims to provide to every customer.
The Benin City branch, which opened its doors just over a year ago, has been a standout location, offering an impressive range of trending merchandise, such as clothing, household goods, and electronics, all at highly competitive prices.
The scholarship awards were presented by Esv. Sunny Oviojie, who encouraged the young recipients to take full advantage of the opportunity. He urged parents to ensure the scholarships are used wisely to further the children’s education.
Musa Shaibu, the Floor Manager at Ford Mart, reinforced the company’s dedication to offering quality products at affordable prices. “At Ford Mart, our ‘best-buy price’ approach is more than just a slogan – it’s a fundamental part of our strategy. We are committed to providing a diverse range of products that our customers truly value, all while ensuring they are priced fairly,” he stated.
