Max Air, a Nigerian domestic airline, has been ordered to suspend all flights for the next three months. This decision comes after one of their planes experienced a tire blowout while landing at Kano International Airport on Tuesday evening.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced the suspension, stating that it will use this period to conduct a comprehensive safety and financial audit of the airline. This includes a thorough review of Max Air’s operations, personnel, and aircraft to ensure they meet all safety standards.
The NCAA emphasized that passenger safety is their top priority. While acknowledging the inconvenience this may cause to travelers, they stressed the importance of a thorough investigation into the tire blowout incident. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
This suspension will remain in effect until the NCAA is satisfied with the results of both the safety and financial audits.
