NACCIMA Appoints President of Oil Palm Growers Association as Vice Chair of Agribusiness Trade Group

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has named Joe Onyiuke, the President of the Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN), as the new Vice Chairman of the NACCIMA Agribusiness Trade Group.

Dele Kelvin Oye, Esq., NACCIMA’s National President, confirmed the appointment, stating that Onyiuke will collaborate closely with the Chairman to provide strategic leadership and direction for the agribusiness sectors in Nigeria’s economy.

Oye expressed his enthusiasm in a statement, acknowledging Onyiuke’s outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector, especially in advancing oil palm cultivation in Nigeria. “Your appointment is a recognition of your deep expertise and significant role in promoting oil palm farming in the country,” he said.

As Vice Chairman, Onyiuke’s responsibilities will include advocating for agribusiness policies, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing the sector’s growth and sustainability.

With over 25 years of experience in corporate law, entrepreneurship, and agriculture, Onyiuke is a passionate advocate for oil palm cultivation and its entire value chain. His efforts have resulted in an expansion of oil palm production across Nigeria, with 27 states now fully supported by the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. He is dedicated to revitalizing Nigeria’s oil palm industry and addressing the challenges faced by local farmers while contributing to national food security.

To further aid farmers, Onyiuke launched Oil Palm Radio and TV, which provide vital educational content on best practices for managing oil palm plantations.

Previously, Onyiuke served as the National Legal Adviser to the National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN) and held various roles in the banking sector, including in Credit, Legal, Risk Management, and Marketing. He resigned voluntarily from banking to focus on his passion for agriculture and now leads Ayip Eku Oil Palm Company Limited. Additionally, Onyiuke sits on the boards of several agricultural and corporate organizations. He enjoys playing golf and lawn tennis and is married with children.

Oye concluded by expressing confidence that Onyiuke’s leadership will be pivotal to NACCIMA’s efforts to lead and innovate within Nigeria’s agribusiness sector.
