Bob van Dijk, the long-serving Chief Executive Officer of Prosus NV and Naspers, has stepped down from his roles as Chairman of the Board and Head of the eCommerce investor. This decision was made effective immediately, following a mutual agreement between van Dijk and the boards of both companies.
Van Dijk has been at the helm of Naspers since 2014, guiding the company through a period of significant growth and transformation. He played a pivotal role in the 2019 spin-off of Prosus, which houses Naspers’ international internet businesses.
Naspers, a prominent South African multinational, has emerged as a global technology powerhouse, with a diverse portfolio spanning online retail, publishing, and venture capital investments. The company has significantly impacted various sectors, including edtech, food delivery, classifieds, social media, gaming, payments, and fintech.
In his statement, Prosus Chairman Koos Bekker expressed gratitude for van Dijk’s leadership, acknowledging his instrumental role in establishing and expanding key businesses within the Naspers portfolio.
Following van Dijk’s departure, Ervin Tu, the company’s Chief Investment Officer, has been appointed as interim CEO. Tu, a seasoned investment professional with prior experience at SoftBank and Goldman Sachs, brings a wealth of expertise to the role. His appointment ensures continuity in the execution of Prosus’ strategic priorities.
This leadership transition marks a new chapter for Naspers as it continues to navigate the dynamic global technology landscape.
