Simera Sense Secures $14.75 Million to Scale Production of High-Resolution Satellite Cameras

South African space technology company, Simera Sense, has secured a €13.5 million ($14.75 million) growth investment led by NewSpace Capital and Knife Capital. This funding will fuel the company’s ambitious expansion plans, including the establishment of additional production facilities in Europe to significantly increase its manufacturing capacity.

Simera Sense specializes in developing and manufacturing high-resolution optical payloads for the growing small satellite market. The company’s innovative technology, including on-board data processing capabilities, addresses critical challenges like bandwidth limitations and communication delays associated with traditional ground-based data processing.

This investment will accelerate the development and commercialization of these cutting-edge technologies, enabling Simera Sense to significantly reduce delivery times and expand its product offerings. The company aims to increase its annual production capacity from around 25 payloads to over 200, meeting the surging demand from a diverse range of customers across the globe.
