Passengers traveling between Lagos and Jos will soon have a more convenient travel option as ValueJet is set to commence direct flights to Plateau State on April 2, 2025. The airline has announced plans to operate flights on this route three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—with potential expansions to daily service in the future.
This marks a return to Jos for ValueJet, which initially launched flights to the city on October 10, 2022, followed by regular services from Abuja to Jos in February 2023. Recognizing the need for consistent air travel options, the Plateau State Government took proactive steps to ensure uninterrupted flight services by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the airline.
The agreement was formalized at ValueJet’s headquarters in Lagos, with Managing Director Omololu Majekodunmi representing the airline, while Jatau Davou Gyang, Plateau’s Commissioner of Transportation, signed on behalf of Governor Caleb Mutfwang. Gyang highlighted the significance of this partnership, emphasizing its role in boosting economic activities and improving accessibility to the state.
Majekodunmi stressed that the agreement was crucial in establishing a legally binding air transport collaboration, particularly given the security risks associated with road travel between Jos and Abuja. He noted that since assuming office, Governor Mutfwang has had to drive between the two cities over 25 times, a journey that takes around five hours by road compared to a 35-minute flight.
With this initiative, travelers can now look forward to a safer, faster, and more comfortable journey between Lagos and Jos, reinforcing the state’s economic and infrastructural development.
